About Heartland.

“The way to do is to be”
– Lao Tzu

Meditation has been part of the spiritual and intellectual life of Eastern civilizations for thousands of years. Having experienced the life-enhancing benefits of meditation for ourselves, we founded Heartland Meditation to share this knowledge with those in the heartland of America. Meditation is an ideal way to relieve stress, to enhance our ability to focus and concentrate, to reexamine individual priorities and life goals, to become more self-confident, to interact more positively with others and to gain a more positive understanding of ourselves.

Yet all too often meditation is seen as difficult to learn and something which requires a high degree of self-discipline to practice. In truth, meditation is simple – and as advantageous to overall good health – as exercise or yoga. And just as a personal trainer can make physical exercise more effective, Heartland’s expert instructors will help you get more out of every meditation session.

What make meditating easy even if you’ve never tried it before.

Here are just a few reasons Heartland Meditation is the perfect fit for your needs and lifestyle:
    • All meditation sessions are conducted by experienced teachers.
    • The facility is conveniently located for those on the North Shore.
    • Daily classes are scheduled to accommodate working professionals, stay at home caregivers, students and everyone else who want to attend.
    • Students can take a class as often as they wish for the same low monthly fee.
    • Special classes are offered for children including those with ADHD and other special needs.
    • Policemen and firefighters enjoy class discounts in recognition of their service to the community.

Inspired by technique introduced by the world renown Korean innovator Woo Myung, the Heartland Meditation takes students throughout seven levels of meditation. Because the process is gradual and always learned through a personal guide, you’ll be able to understand and absorb the lessons with relative ease even if you’ve never attempted meditation before.

As you progress one level at a time, you’ll free your mind of the seemingly ceaseless – and often meaningless – chatter and clatter of the world. You’ll let go of any negative images you have of your body and destructive anger harbored towards others. In their place will be a newly-found serenity, confidence and ability to connect not only with your true self, but with family, friends, colleagues and the universe at large.

SEVEN LEVELS ON THE JOURNEY

TOWARD INNER PEACE AND HAPPINESS

LEVEL 1

Throw away the remembered thoughts

LEVEL 2

Throw away the images of myself, images of my human relationships and myself

LEVEL 3

Throw away my body

Level 4

Throw away my body and the universe

Level 5

Throw away my body and the universe

Level 6

Self diappears by subtraction and become the Universe

Level 7

Throw away the illusionary world of pictures and myself living inside that world

Completion

Become one with the universe and live the life of truth

“Meditation is not a way of making your mind quite. It is a way of entering into the quite that is already there – buried under the 50,000 thoughts the average person thinks every day”

Our meditation classes do for the mind what yoga does for the body.

Meditation is exercise for the mind. It teaches you how to breathe, relax and listen to your inner self. It expands your mindfulness, positive personal interactions and capacity for living every moment to its fullest. Like the physical exercise program, the ultimate goal is not to create a “new” me. But to help you develop what’s already there. We call it connecting with the “true” you. For some, this process may take a few weeks. For others the journey may be longer. But our class schedule is built to accommodate your needs and the other demands of your life whatever they may be.

STEP1

Introductory Session

  • By Appointment

We offer a free introductory seminar where you can come and listen to what this meditation method is about and get to see the center and how it is being run. You can also ask questions when you come for the seminar. The free introductory seminar takes about 40 minutes. If you allow yourself about an hour, it should be more than enough.
  • Open House

You don’t need to make an appointment for open house every Saturday from 2pm-4pm. We can casually have a cup of tea for mind opening conversation about mind and body. You are generally free to walk about the center and see how classes are being run. If you want to spend some time for detailed information, you can request to helpers at spot.

Step 2
