What’s an efficient way to overcome procrastination?

procrastinator_Heartland meditationAbout me:

I used to be a major procrastinator. My body literally didn’t move as much as my mind was trying to move. I even put myself into a system where I couldn’t help but do the tasks that were supposed to get done. I was trying to read tons of self-discipline books and countless You tube videos that might help me drop this lousy habit.

But at the end of the day, nothing really worked for me.

I started doing this meditation as if this was my last chance to fix this.

As I started doing the meditation, I’ve realized that it wasn’t just because of my laziness which seemed to be a cause of this whole situation but turns out it is deriving from my minds which have been accumulated over the years.

‘I want to be the best of all.’

‘I want to get it done fast and perfectly’

‘I want to make everyone happy’

‘I can’t stand that people are disappointed in my performance’

‘There cannot be a mistake in whatever I do’

procrastinator2_heartland meditation Those minds and words burst out of my mind as I was reflecting back on my life. And then it just all made sense.

All of these minds and experiences that I have recorded in my mind as pictures made me drown in my thoughts and put all the pressure on my shoulder. That was the reason why I constantly put thing off until the last minute.

As I continued on meditation, I found layers and layers of my mind and habits as well which have been the fundamental roots of my behaviors and a script to live in a certain way.

I recommend those who suffer from procrastination to try these steps as following.

  1. Try to join meditation session available, when you’re about to fall into usual procrastinating routine where you can’t get out of. That’ll stop you fall back into the loop.
  2. Try to experience to get one or two the lamest and the simplest task done a day. Not the everything you have to do. Just the things that others might consider the tiniest and silliest thing. Having experienced with successful job done is very important.
  3. Do one thing at a time. Multitasking is the short cut to wind back to the old routine.

Hope this video might help you get over your procrastinating habit.
