Where should we seek joy and happiness?

Introduction

 One of our members came to me and asked, “ I have been searching for happiness and fulfilment in her life. I tried all sorts of things – travelling, new hobbies, and even changing careers – but nothing seemed to stick. Despite all of my best efforts, I still felt unfulfilled and disconnected, as though something was missing from my life.”

How do we seek joy and happiness?

Have you ever found yourself thinking that happiness comes from external sources, like a fancy car, a big house, or a perfect relationship? I think we’ve all been there at some point. But the truth is, while these things might bring us temporary happiness, they often fail to provide a sustained sense of joy. In fact, some people who have everything they thought would make them happy still feel unfulfilled. That’s because true joy and happiness can only be found within ourselves. In order to find

true joy and happiness, we should take the time to cultivate inner peace, gratitude, and contentment, which come when we are not dependent on external factors, but find truth within. For sure, it takes some work, but shifting our focus from seeking social recognition and constantly keeping ourselves busy, to prioritizing personal growth and self-awareness, can lead to a happier and more fulfilling life.

Meaningful relationships don't guarantee happiness - it's more complex than that.

  Meaningful relationships can indeed bring happiness, as they provide us with a sense of connection, belonging, and love. When we have people in our lives who truly care for us and whom we care for in return, it can bring us a sense of purpose and joy. However, while relationships can provide us with happiness, it’s not always easy to have lasting happiness with them.

  One reason is that relationships take work. They require effort, compromise, and communication. When we don’t put in the time and energy needed to maintain a healthy and happy relationship, it can lead to conflict and disappointment. Additionally, people change over time, and our needs and wants may shift as we grow and evolve. If we don’t communicate these changes effectively, it can lead to misunderstandings and tension.

  Another reason is that we may place too much pressure on our relationships to bring us happiness. We may expect our partners or loved ones to fulfill all of our needs and desires, which can be unrealistic and lead to disappointment.

Finally, life can be unpredictable, and unexpected events like illness, job loss, or other major life changes can put a strain on even the strongest relationships. In these situations, it’s important to have a strong foundation of love and trust to fall back on, but it still takes effort and resilience to weather these challenges and maintain happiness in the long term.

 

Finding inner happiness can also enhance deeper relationships with others.

  You may have experience that you rely on others to make you happy and you became disappointed or let down. True. when it comes to relationships, we need to find peace within us first so we are less likely to react to others’ behaviors or words. Instead, we can approach situations with a calm and open mindset, which can lead to better communication and understanding in our relationships.

  meditation can help us cultivate qualities like compassion and empathy, which can deepen our connections with others. When we practice meditation regularly, we become more aware of our own thoughts and emotions, and we also become more aware of the thoughts and emotions of others. This increased awareness can lead to a greater sense of connection and understanding in our relationships, which can ultimately bring us more joy and happiness.

Why do I experience stress and anxiety when pursuing my passions and engaging in enjoyable activities that bring me fulfillment and happiness?

  When you are doing what you enjoy and what you are passionate about, you are likely to experience a sense of flow, where time seems to pass by quickly, and you are fully absorbed in the task at hand. This can bring a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment, which can lead to feelings of happiness and fulfillment.

  However, it’s important to note that pursuing your passions doesn’t always guarantee happiness. Challenges and setbacks are inevitable and you may have high expectations for yourself and your performance when you are passionate about something. pursuing your passions often involves taking risks and stepping out of your comfort zone. This can be challenging and stressful, especially if you are unsure of the outcome or feel a sense of pressure to succeed.

 And it’s important to approach them with resilience and a growth mindset. You need to recognize and accept that pursuing your passions can be time-consuming and require a great deal of effort. Balancing your passion with other responsibilities, such as work, family, or personal commitments, can be stressful and overwhelming.

Conclusion

I like the quote Truth is within you, and the Land of Truth is within you.

Before I practiced meditation, I absolutely had no idea about what that meant. But. Since I’ve practiced meditation over 10 years, I have experienced the power of universe mind, which is Truth, and the state of universe mind is not fluctuating like how I used to be and staying resilient and positive even under challenges. It is also the source of unchanging and lasting joy and happiness. Only what exists within you exists. Meditation can guide you how to find Truth within you.

  Furthermore, pursuing your passions often involves taking risks and stepping outside of your comfort zone, which can help you to overcome fears and build confidence. When you are able to push through challenges and setbacks, you develop resilience and a stronger sense of self.
