What can I do to build up my self esteem and confidence?

How to boost self esteem and confidence(1) Starting from a young age, we have always grown up hearing that we should have confidence – that we need to be confident in order to succeed. We tend to gain confidence when we find success in the things that we do, even if it’s a seemingly miniscule event. As we ace a school project, get a perfect score on a test, earn a compliment from a teacher, overcome some type of challenge, etc., our confidence grows more and more.

However, as we grow up, our confidence and self esteem tend to drop a lot.

Whether we want to or not, there is always competition in the society we live in. As we get older, it’s no longer simply a fight against myself; we learn that there is always someone who is better than us out there, and this causes us to become more competitive, wanting to be the best and to win. We want to become more athletic, more studious and smart, we want to be acknowledged and complemented by others more than those around us. So when we aren’t able to be what we consider the best – when we aren’t always first place – we often become sullen and lose confidence. When I was young, I had always considered myself smart and talented, but through the numerous losses that followed both internal and external competitions, I felt my confidence hit rock bottom.

How to boost self esteem and confidence(2) And with that came the increased negativity clouding my mind – “No matter how much I try, I can’t do it,” “What if my effort is meaningless?” “What if that person is better than me?” “What if I am a disappointment to my parents and teachers?” “What if I embarrass myself?” and many more similar negative thoughts were very common, and these negative thoughts would cause me so much stress and pain, which ultimately ended up ruining my self esteem and confidence altogether. Even when I became an adult, these thoughts continued. I needed to get a superior job, a larger income, a more luxurious house, etc., and if I couldn’t, then my confidence would drop even more and the inferiority would make me feel worthless. I found myself constantly comparing myself to others and making myself small. This way of thinking and living was so difficult, and I realized that I needed to find a way out of it.

That’s when I was introduced to this cleansing meditation.

The best part of this meditation was that it freed me from all of these negative thoughts. As I discarded all of these negative thoughts and clutter from my mind, I was able to develop a much more positive and content way of thinking, which strengthened my mental health immensely. As a result, I was able to pour all my energy into the work that I did instead of wasting my energy on comparing myself to others and nitpicking at my flaws like I had done before. I became more diligent and sincere – it no longer mattered to me whether I “lost” or “won.” Thanks to this meditation, I was able to rid all of my negative thoughts and build up my confidence again. When my mindset changed from that of such a negative one to a hugely positive one, everything seemed to just follow nature’s flow, and I no longer had any worries or anxiety. Because I was able to discard all of the negative thoughts, only my positive and bright self remained, and therefore, I was always confident in myself and everything that I did, which also set up a great example for my children, who are also very positive and bright. I am so thankful to this meditation method for changing my life like so, and anyone and everyone who is struggling with low confidence/self esteem can also experience the same benefits and changes that I received.
