Why meditating as a family is more effective

Family Meditation is designed to enable families to engage in simple guided meditation that unite, learn & grow together.

Many people try to learn how to meditate only on an individual level but meditating as a family which includes young children can enhance effects of meditation for the entire family. Let’s find out why this is so important.

1. Parents are the most influential role models in a child’s life.

Did you know A child’s healthy development depends on their parents? One of the studies found that approximately one third (34%) of the children of the depressed mothers were found to have a current psychiatric disorder, including disruptive behavior (22%), anxiety (16%), and depressive disorders (10%). What your child sees and hears are his parents’ minds at work. Your words and actions form the habits and behaviors which will govern his or her life.

When we speak unconsciously (for example when we may lose our temper or feel frustrated), the words and emotions are often internalized in a child’s subconscious and can remain there for a lifetime.

Every parent wants the best life for their children. When families work together, through meditation, everyone, especially young children, will learn very important life skills which guarantee their success in any endeavor.

2.  Each person becomes more aware of their mind so a strong bond and trust can be built in a family.

Although a family member has unwanted emotions and feelings, it is not easy to express their true intention, either because they don’t how to do it, or they feel like they are not allowed. Meditation can create and build a habit of learning how not to react or internalize what is projected from unconscious minds.

Family meditation can help family members learn to understand and appreciate how the human mind thinks, and how to react to it without judgement. When we have an understanding of our minds, we become careful guardians of what and how we express ourselves through our words and actions.

3. Introduce meditation into a family as a routine.

If you want to bring peace and harmony into your family, meditation is absolutely worth the effort. However, you need to consider spending time discussing what meditation entails, and how it will benefit each family member. Young children especially can be easily distracted and may have difficulty sitting still and focusing in silence. But as they see their parents keep moving forward with their own practice and stick with their routine, they will eventually decide to join you.

Furthermore, it allows each family member to understand each other’s journey of meditation, as everyone has their own rhythms and bumps.

However – it is parent’s first! Initially for the first month or two, parents should learn the skills and come to appreciate the value of this meditation, in advance of their children.  This will enable them to share their experiences and knowledge and build a strong foundation for their child. After this initial period the children begin to meditate. Children will be taught in a fun, lighthearted and friendly way. This too is a sharing discussion opportunity between parent and child.

Thanks to the meditation method, We don’t have to live with unnecessary thoughts and emotions for a lifetime. We can begin to discard them right now. The method of meditation for families teaches invaluable life skills to ensure the best possible outcome for the journey of life.
